Immortals of Aveum (PS5)

The spell-slinging finally feels right—no clunky reloads, just pure momentum as I switch between blue, red, and green magic mid-combat. I’ve put in about ten hours and the single-player campaign hasn’t dragged once. Definitely my favorite shooter this year.

I was skeptical about a magic shooter working on console, but the trigger haptics on the PS5 controller make each spell feel distinct. The way you weave between red, green, and blue magic mid-combat is incredibly smooth.

The magic system is so cleverly built around the three colors that combat never feels repetitive, and the PS5 version loads between deaths almost instantly. I've sunk about ten hours in and the story has actually pulled me in more than I expected from a shooter.
