Long Gone Days (Switch)

The language barrier mechanic really makes you think twice before charging into every fight, and the pixel art style feels perfect for the serious tone. I’m about six hours in and the story has already taken a couple of turns I didn’t see coming from a typical JRPG. It’s a refreshingly grounded take

I’ve been playing for a few hours and the language barrier system adds real weight to conversations. Having to find a translator just to understand NPCs makes the war setting feel personal rather than just another RPG backdrop.

I was surprised by how much the language barrier mechanic added to the tension—it really makes you think before you speak. The game's focus on civilians instead of just soldiers gives the story a unique, grounded feel. Definitely worth picking up if you want a more thoughtful JRPG experience.
